Baby Goats & Debut Thrillers
I’m so excited to be back here on BookTrib.com to visit with you again so soon.
Back in May some of you joined me here for the launch of Sweet Tea and Secrets and helped me name one of the baby goats on my farm. I wanted to take this opportunity to let you know that Maggie is doing great. Maggie is short for Magnolia which was the name provided by BookTrib member: quixoticweetzie. Maggie’s growing fast and is as sweet as those magnolia’s smell. All of the kids born this spring are beginning to wean and stray further from their mommas, but not too far. It’s interesting to watch the family dynamics of the goats. At any given time, I can peek out my office window and see up to five generations of does relaxing together.
We gave away ten copies of Sweet Tea and Secrets in May, but don’t worry, if you weren’t one of the winners of a signed copy in May you have another chance. Just enter here, and you could be a winner this time around.
You know that Sweet Tea and Secrets is my debut novel, but what you may not know is that I’m an International Thriller Writer Debut Author. Yes, it’s true. Alright, so my cover and title might not sound like the next big thriller, but thrills come in all shapes and sizes and I’m so proud to have the support of the International Thriller Writers behind me on this journey.
I’ll admit my book is on the softer side of the thrill, but if you enjoy your love stories with threads of suspense and mystery I think you might enjoy reading about the residents of the small southern town of Adams Grove.
One of the questions I’ve heard numerous times over the past few weeks is, “How did you choose the town of Adams Grove as a setting for your stories?”
Well, Adams Grove is a real town in southern Virginia, but it’s quite different from the town in my books. I’ve taken creative license and created a friendly combination of some of the wonderful small towns I’ve had the pleasure of visiting across America. I love the charm of small towns. The history and architecture are ripe with stories from the past, and, most importantly, the people of small towns are like a warm hug. I always feel right at home in a small town. This Naigle-ized Adams Grove might be different from the one in Virginia, but one thing I can assure you is that the people who live in Adams Grove, VA are just as wonderful and giving as those I’ve written about.
When I decided I wanted to write books for publication I realized that what was most important to me was to write books that gave the reader an escape from their busy everyday life. I think the attitude of small towns is perfect to help remind folks to slow down just a little and embrace every moment you have. I hope that my small town stories give you a little break while also entertaining you with a broad and diverse cast of characters that might just remind you of a few folks you know and love.
Are you ready for a small town escape?

Maggie is as cute as the book cover for Sweet Tea and Secrets is enticing!
I’m glad Maggie is doing well!! And I’m glad you chose that name
What a cutie.
